Stretchable Foldable Man.
He can crawl in your pocket or fit your locket
Or screw himself into a twenty-volt socket,
Or stretch himself up to the steeple or taller,
Or squeeze himself into a thimble or smaller,
Yes he can, course he can,
He's the Twistable Turnable Squeezable Pullable

And he lives a passable life
With his Squeezable Lovable Kissable Hugable
Pullable Tugable Wife.
And they have two twistable kids
Who bend up the way that they did.
And they turn and they stretch
Just as much as they can
For this Bendable Foldable

Easily moldable
Buy-what you're-soldable
Washable Mendable
Highly Dependable
Buyable Saleable

1930-unknown,
From guest Holly (contact)
Sadly, Shel Silverstein died on May 10,1999. He died in his home in Key West, Florida from a massive heart attack. He was discovered in a bedroom by the maids who had arrived to clean. He died at age 68. I loved him so much, and will always cherish the poems he gave to us -

To Guest Holly and others
As explained in the help section, recent deaths are cited as unknown on the poem pages due to a system idiosyncracy.
However if readers check the biography details we also provide they will usually (as in this case) find the relevant dates and death details already posted.

I read this poem as fast as I could for a class poem recital. It ROCKED!! -
Almost a tonguetwister, and as Jim says, cries out to be read aloud. It was my pleasure to do so some years ago. I am sure he making oblique references to politiians
-
An excellent piece which tugs and pulls the words into such an irresistable form that cries out to be read aloud.
I wonder if Shel was thinking of a politician?
