Today is filled with anger
fueled with hidden hate
scared of being outcast
afraid of common fate
Today is built on tragedies
which no one wants 2 face
nightmares 2 humanities
and morally disgraced
Tonight is filled with rage
violence in the air
children bred with ruthlessness
because no one at home cares
Tonight I lay my head down
but the pressure never stops
knawing at my sanity
content when I am dropped
But 2morrow I c change
a chance 2 build a new
Built on spirit intent of Heart
and ideals
based on truth
and tomorrow I wake with second wind
and strong because of pride
2 know I fought with all my heart 2 keep my
dream alive
fueled with hidden hate
scared of being outcast
afraid of common fate
Today is built on tragedies
which no one wants 2 face
nightmares 2 humanities
and morally disgraced
Tonight is filled with rage
violence in the air
children bred with ruthlessness
because no one at home cares
Tonight I lay my head down
but the pressure never stops
knawing at my sanity
content when I am dropped
But 2morrow I c change
a chance 2 build a new
Built on spirit intent of Heart
and ideals
based on truth
and tomorrow I wake with second wind
and strong because of pride
2 know I fought with all my heart 2 keep my
dream alive

The Poet in 'Pac Breathed!
From guest Lynn Hayes (contact)
My only child was in a fatal accident at the age of 15, Marley Hayes! She is an avid fan, notice I said is? Before she left she had told me and many of her friends that when she died she wanted "Unconditional Love" by Tupac played. We had a memorial service at the middle school gym where I first saw her dance. And; yes, that song played and so did "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley # This poem needs to be read slowly... It has very calculated wording and fits the message Tupac was always sending. Yea, he talked about drugs and violence... daym, he lived it. But, thats how he got his message out. No, he did NOT try to promote violence or drugs. He warned any; with sense enough to hear, just where those habits would take you to. 'Pac wasn't just a man, is still here...just like my daughter is. Feel their love and words and music. -

this poem is so strong. i love the way tupac isnt afraid to say what he feels. he is an insipration to white and black pepople alike. we should all look to him for guidance. i believe he wrote for a purpose and that purpose was to communicate the importance of compassion, hope and faith. he is an amazing writer with great talent and we can all learn from his words. -

When he says he 'fought' to 'keep his dream alive' I don't really feel he's referring to 'violence' and 'rage' though I do feel they are a part of his [that] struggle. Despite what some believed or still contend to believe today, Tupac was a moral and ethical person who, like many, had to do certain things in their life to survive and some of those things may have been immoral and unethical but just because the actions were such, didn't make him to be those things.
The society that each of us grow up in are different than the next, for some of us we are grouped together (in different places) in each of these societies one and the same, and we go through things in our lives to try to survive. I went through that in my life, so I feel I can relate to a lot of 2pac has written lyricaly and poetically in his work.
And like him, just because I may have lead (not anymore on both our parts, but I'm still alive) a violent life and have done some unethical and immoral things, does not mean I am in promotion of them, 'we' did what we had to do to survive.
So I feel your second part applies to 2pac and this piece
'.. he merely a product of his enviroment doing what he must to survive?'
-
Oh the last piece is the best...oh beautiful work Tupac has! I cant believe it!

The best part about Pac, was his sense of reality. In reality, he knew he never was forced to make the decisions he made, as none of us are ever FORCED to make any decision. Therein lies the tragedy. When one who is knowledgeable of the harm his actions inflict, yet they take those actions still, only grief is gained. They say nothing last forever, and while true, no one really understands the duality of that statement. When you become filled with grief, it makes you empty, full of nothingness. That nothingness does indeed last forever... Pac knew this better than most. Yet he saw a chance for redemption, whatever it may have been. Yet, tomorrow never came. He never was willing to give up what he had to give up in order to move forward and regain what he had lost. I hope that this poem, my personal favorite of his collection, is a lesson to anyone who has lost themself.

i think 2pac is a inborn poet because the poems he is writtin have deep meanings that reflects that he is sttruglin'or a thing that is dangling in his mind that's all thank u

THis poem may be inspiring, but is he trying to say that he promotes violence and rage when necassary to "keep your dream alive", or was he merely a product of his environment doing what he must to survive?

'Tonight I lay my head down
but the pressure never stops'
I knew this feeling all too well in my youth. I used to have dreams that would be that second line, a darkness that just kept on pressuring me.
I wasn't scared when I had those dreams, and I took them as metaphorical, and I feel when I did take them as metaphorical and confronted it, that's when they stopped (2 years later) ..
In this he speaks 'there's always tomorrow' and there is, for each of us, there's always a tomorrow.
A great piece that 2pac has written here.
