When Ure Hero Falls

when your hero falls from grace
all fairy tales r uncovered
myths exposed and pain magnified
the greatest pain discovered
u taught me 2 be strong
but im confused 2 c u so weak
u said never 2 give up
and it hurts 2 c u welcome defeat

when ure hero falls so do the stars
and so does the perception of tomorrow
without my hero there is only
me alone 2 deal with my sorrow
your heart ceases 2 work
and your soul is not happy at all
what r u expected 2 do
when ure only hero falls

Compare When Ure Hero Falls and Night

    From guest Jezzy (contact)
When Ure Hero Falls, is a story about someone who has lost their hero and is having to deal with the pain of their fallen hero. It also shows how odd it is to see your hero who has been through tough times come and welcome defeat. As one gets to the end of the poem, one can conclude that the poem changes to a helpless mood. For example, 'Your heart ceases 2 work' shows that one's heart that keeps them going, stops, and all life stops. Just like in Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie loses hope in his hero, his father. His father was the only thing that kept him going and had to deal with the sorrow that went along with his hero's death. In conclusion, both of these literary works have a similar theme of hopelessness and sorrow that follows the fall of one's hero.

    When ure hero falls

    From guest Ntombi (contact)
The hero in question is his mum, isn't it? What happened to her? She IS depicted as a heroine in 'Dear Mama'. I am trying to find a link between Tupac's poetry and his lived experience. To me,one reflects the other, or so it appears. There is so much more to his poetry than what is written on paper. My emotions keep on interfering at this stage. I am doing research on poetry and his seems to illustrate the point I am trying to unearth. I am getting to know him and the fact that he is no more does not help at all. Does his poetry reflect his lived experience? I'm afraid this is more of a question rather than a comment.

I really felt this poem deeply because I recently lost my mother only days ago due a very short battle with lung cancer. I felt had she not given up ALL hope she could beat this thing as with all other illnesses she endured. I will always remembered her as a strong woman who fought for and against everything she believed in as with all HEROES and HEROINES.

In these words Shakur seems to paint one of the problems of growing up. The moment when your parents, the heroes who could do no wrong, are transformed into fallible human beings.
One moment you have a hero who can do no wrong and can cure all ills, the next you are alone with all your dreams shattered. "Your soul is not happy at all"

    this makes so much sense...

what do you do when your hero falls

Tupac somehow gies so many questions in his
messages a message that seems to be understandable to very person.

For hte ones that have no hero he too shares the pain.

HE ask questions to let one understands hsi feelings that's what makes his poem stand out as well as strong metaphors that pends one mind.

One is all Falling from the world Learning more about it… as I fall Compared to nothing With fear controlling Of not only the living but the dead A mirror image in the depth of the night Contracting the superior domain Of a monster… Of an imagination Which is the ones creation of, Ones world. A piece of music… to ones ears The affections Of not only destroying As is to creating Combustion of the core To beast To sun rays To one is calm, and creates One thing, which is clueless to most… Ones world

see some people are mistaking this poem, it doesnt deal with tupac losing his hero to death. he is writing about his mother losing the battle to addiction. the depth of this poem is awesome i think it is one of the greatest poems. yes i said it one of the greatest just bwecause he is tupac and he is a bad gangster that lived a thug life doesnt meaqn he wasnt a great writer and in my opinion this is by far his best work

Whoa, man. It blew me away. I really liked it; it has this really sad vibe, like watching the love of your life walk away in the rain. Very Blues-y, but also very, indescribable.

I did not expect 2pac to be this good at writting poetry...to be honest when you first look you can feel that his wording in parts is not so great for example : and your soul is not happy at all

but i think that the words he used fitted in with his poems, the thing about him is he never tried to over complicate things like other poets, he tells it like it is with great talent and gr8 use of words and the message behined everything he says is so deep and real, one rapper with a good honest heart...great

Well, I must confess that I was prepared to say that there is nothing "great" in Tupac's poetry or life, and that his admirers do him (and themselves) a grave disservice by their messianic comparisons and undignified hero worship. But then I decided to actually read the poem. After wincing at his informal spelling (and nothing is gained by peppering the page with "2"s in substitution of "to"s), I must admit that he is grammatical (which I did not expect) and even lyrical; and -- dare I even say this? -- he must surely have imbibed in the wellsprings of classical poetry and copied with some success its sentiment and moral compass.

This poem is so, so deep. People like to hold on to a hero that will give them inspiration. You tend to look at that person as invincible and superhuman. No one or nothing seems to be able to touch your hero, but when they fall, Your are left all alone. All the strength that that person seemed to have is now gone and you feel hopeless. A great work by an even greater man.

You drudge on, that's what you do. You don't allow their death or their passing to get in the way of their message that they inspired and taught you, you make their compassion alive within you and thus, in the end, they never died to begin with.

The flesh may fade away in time but their memory can stay a lifetime if you only remember.

A good piece, sorrowful piece, that 2pac has written here.
