In The Event Of My Demise

In the event of my Demise
when my heart can beat no more
I Hope I Die For A Principle
or A Belief that I had Lived 4
I will die Before My Time
Because I feel the shadow's Depth
so much I wanted 2 accomplish
before I reached my Death

I have come 2 grips with the possibility
and wiped the last tear from My eyes
I Loved All who were Positive
In the event of my Demise

Tupac is one of the greatest but not only for what he writes but also for his peculiar thug life. I am studying English language and English and American Literature in Spain. I still can't understand why this man is not thought in our universities. Tupac RIP.

I like Tupacs poems they are empowering and almost makes me cry when I read them. He keeps it real. This particular poem almost brought me to tears. I think Tupac was a very talented man.

In my opinion tupac Was a brilliant Gangsta. He seemed to be one of the tortured souls in the world. then he turned all the shit he had seen and did in his life into his lyrics to his songs and into his poetry. No one so far can compare his poetry to anyone elses. he is a man of few words and can say things like no one else. Rest In Peace Dogg

i was introduced to this man's words years ago through my children and i can honestly say he was the only kind of his music that i enjoyed. he had a lot of insight into life. In the event of my Demise when my heart can beat no more I Hope I Die For A Principle or A Belief that I had Lived 4 it makes one wonder if he had a premonition about his death. a creative genius gone from our midst.

    This Poem is great...

I think the theme poem is a little played out... i think it kinda celebrates his death instead of emphasizing his life... not as good as "In The Depths Of Solitude"

This is my favorite piece of work by Tupac Shakur. In this piece he is basically laying out his death scene. The emotion and realness inside this poem is amazing. Tupac Shakur was way ahead of his time. Tupac was a visionary, and rest in peace forever.

Tupac is my idle. Every single piece of music he ever produce seems to teach some valuable lesson or put make you feel like you know tupac better than anybody else. Like Brian said, you can learn about tupac and you can feel really close to him through his amazing poetry, music and even the words he once spoken. This poem I agree is one of the best i've read. Tupac was always prepared for his death, he told his girlfriend he expects to die in his 20's but as the poem says, as long as he dies for something he had believed in. He also made the song, How long will they mourn me which also reflects upon his death. Tupac expressed himself through his work, and so many people in the world feel close to him, this is why tupac is legendary. People love him.

Tupac was a genious before his time. He was the first to speak the truth of the world. The fact that not everyone was ready to hear it didnt affect him at all. And he ended up like vango selling more after death then during his life.

I have always loved his poems. They give a different outlook to the black culture. I admore tupac in a way that i can't express. I'm not a big fan of all his music, but I love the meaning he put out. It's pity that such a talent was taken away.

This is my favorite piece of work by Tupac Shakur. In this piece he is basically laying out his death scene. The emotion and realness inside this poem is amazing. Tupac Shakur was way more than a common "thug". Tupac was a visionary, not only trying to help blacks but all people elevate and erase the hate all over the world.
What some people failed to realize about Tupac is that he was not being a "hoodlum" by rapping about the things that he witnessed in his lifetime. All he wanted was to tell the stories of how some people live in wealth and others live in complete and desolate poverty. By telling these stories, he hoped that the government would come in and fix that promlem and not try to put a censor on his creativity.
Thank you for the years of music, poetry, and inspiration. May your music live on forever.

I believe he knew that he wasn't going to live too long because of the life-style in which he lived in. He was upfront about his life to himself so I believe he was content in that aspect but fearful.

I feel that he has died for a principle and a philosophical one. I also feel that many would disagree with that and that they'd just see him or do just see him as a thug of some kind, a criminal, and that may be very true on its own .. but he was upfront about it, he didn't lie and he tried to better not only himself but those who listened to his lyrics, his music.

I own all his albums, even the one's after his death I feel I have learned from him, and to deny that to myself, would be pointless and not what I am about nor what he was and is about.

A great piece even in the dialect used, a great piece that 2pac has written here.
