The Art of Chieftanship

The art of chieftanship thou hast not learned, Bahram,
In thy time thou hast dishonoured the chiefship;
For the rest count not thy name among my sons'
That is the last prayer breathed by Khushal the Khattak.

    I think this piece could well give an insight into Khattak's ability to utilise the different styles of poetry he came in contact with. Looking at the style is has the appearance an feel of a Chinese Jueju yet has the signature with a maqta.

    I liked this, but it has left me wondering, who was Bahram and what was his crime?

    Short but delivers the message very well.
