Quatrain 1693 (Farsi with English Translation)

ay sâqî, az-ân bâda ke awwal dâd-î

riTlê dô dar andâz-o be-y-afzâ shâdî

yâ châshniyê az-ân na-bâyast namûd

yâ mast-o kharâb kon, chô sar be-g'shâd-î

English Translation

O cupbearer, from that wine which you first gave,

Toss in two [more] cups worth and increase (my) happiness.

Either a taste of it must not be made known,

Or, if you have opened the [jug's] top, you must make (me) drunk
and ruined.

salam, midonin in kodoom shear mulana hast? khali donbalesham, A lover asked his beloved, Do you love yourself more than you love me? The beloved replied, I have died to myself and I live for you. I’ve disappeared from myself and my attributes. I am present only for you. I have forgotten all my learning, but from knowing you I have become a scholar. I have lost all my strength, but from your power I am able. If I love myself I love you. If I love you I love myself, merci khali ziad

    From guest JoAnn Avinger (contact)
I wanted a poem in the Farsi alefba in the original language and not the phonetics. I'm learning Farsi and want to practice with poetry.
