Last night you left me and slept

Last night you left me and slept
your own deep sleep. Tonight you turn
and turn. I say,
"You and I will be together
till the universe dissolves."
You mumble back things you thought of
when you were drunk.

Such a small verse, but I find this seemingly to be God speaking to man: "You turn from me and go your own way, then 'sleep' restlessly, but I tell you I am with you to eternity, and still you do not believe"...just my own take on the words. I do love to delve into the poetry of this man. So lofty and yet, so human. Peace, Rhonda

Today the universe disolved in my arms. You sleep, dreaming of other universes yet to evolve. I lay sleepless and wonder who is your new star? Whose name slipped from your drunken lips? M. Nelson
