We examine this ancient
& insane theatre, obscene
like luxuriant churches
altars.
I confess
to scarves
cool floors
stroked curtain
The actors are twice-blessed
before us. This is
too serious & severe.
Great mystery!
Timeless passion
patterned in stillness.

I think Jim Morrison is one of the best and most amazing poets in the history of American literature. I look up to him every time my pen touches a piece of paper. I really wisj he was still alive today.

JIm I agree but im only 15 and stone did an excellent job. If you get a chance you should watch how keenlay or who ever she was reacted to some of the parts. Or maybe it was pam who they interveiwed.

just to add... in the Doors Motion Picture... i felt that stone portayed jim in a way that wasnt totally true, granite the fact that some things would have be so offensive that he would be ridiculed... but for him to say in The Road to Excess that he was good friends of the band and what not and show jim not being who he totally was in wrong... im only 16 years old and i base my life reading, learing, following the Lizard King.
He is in fact, my idol -
i think that many people got the idea of him being a poet more than a singer/songwriter... just by the songs sounded... they had no real musical rythm...and with this i leave you with a line that has always been a sign off for me from that man...

James Douglas Morrison was one of the most amazing poets to ever live and he continues to live on in the hearts and minds of those who come to know him. We can learn how to live from a man who put living as his first priority; let's look to him to learn about humanity.

I SO agree with mike.. too many people forget that he acomplished much more then his music. I love jims poetry, its all i have ever really loved reading when it comes to poetry..

I just wanted to say that I apericiate this site because to many people like to focus on Jim Morrison as a singer when Jim himself wanted to be known as a poet and this is not only a good way to feel what Jim wrote in his poetry but experience what he loved to do and that is write poetry.
