Farewell

Farewell, dear, young friends;
      though parting is painful,
A sad separation approaches at last.
Revilers may spurn me,
       lost friends may chide me;
Even then with much pleasure
       I'll think on the past.
When rivers divide us and
       hills rise between us,
Even then I'll remember
       your childhood bright days.
Let not sad reflections
       a moment beguile you;
Look forward with hope on
       future's bright rays.

    My Great Great Grandpa's Brother

    From guest Lorinda Heuer (contact)
    William Anderson Ellis is my Great Great Grandfather's (Dr. John Harlen Ellis) brother. I just found his poetry and am proud to have his blood running through my veins and am uplifted by his words to look forward with hope on future's bright rays. We never part from family. Thank you William. And thank you for your service to what has become a beautiful country.

    Wonderful, marvelous.

    From guest Kwamboka Nyambati (contact)
    Amen, Amen, Amen. This is such a marvelous poem. Indeed, we have to part ways some time in life but let us not loose hope. Let us revive our souls with beautiful scenes of the past and lets also face the future with great splendour, strength and God's joy and love. Amen again to that. People please comment. Please.
