A Sunset

What means it, Lord? No Daniel
In Nature's banquet-hall
Appears, thy messenger, to spell
The writing on the wall.


Is it the Babylonian doom,—
A kingdom passed away,—
A midnight monarch to assume
The majesty of Day?
