You skulked behind me like a hound,
And now you run before.
"But, master, if you turn around,
I'll get behind once more."

  • Who would not prefer their shadow in front rather than behind. When it's behind it means the sun is in your eyes!!
    I like Bannister's conceit of the dialogue between the two companions.
