I am not skilled to understand
What God hath willed, what God hath planned;
I only know that at His right hand
Is One Who is my Savior!
I take Him at His word indeed;
“Christ died for sinners”—this I read;
For in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my Savior!
That He should leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die,
You count it strange? So once did I,
Before I knew my Savior!
And oh, that He fulfilled may see
The travail of His soul in me,
And with His work contented be,
As I with my dear Savior!
Yea, living, dying, let me bring
My strength, my solace from this Spring;
That He Who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior!

Interesting.
I just realized that this is the song "My Savior, My God" by Aaron Shust. He just added a chorus to it. And this part:
"And oh, that He fulfilled may see
The travail of His soul in me,
And with His work contented be,
As I with my dear Savior!"
He left out. I didn't know that. I thought he wrote it. You learn something new every day. -
I am not Skilled to Understand

In researching music for our church's 125th anniversary celebration, I happened upon this hymn. Immediately, I recognized it as the verses to the very popular song "My Savior, My God". Isn't it awesome to realize this hymn has spanned 134 years and has immerged as the beautiful song it is today. Aaron Shust is to be commended, but on our music, he failed to give Ms. Greenwell credit for the poem. Why is this? -

dorothy greenwell wrote one of the most beautiful poems i've read, with all Glory to our Great God. such a humble, loving expression of a faith based upon knowing Jesus. aaron shust did a wonderful job, with an added chorus, and the elimination of the fourth stanza. it will always be a favorite. beautiful. -
Truly this poem is a reflection of the faith that is shared by that writer and myself. My interpretation of the 1st stanz: No matter what happens in my life, its God's will. The one is on the right hand of the father - is my Savior"
2nd stanz "I find in my heart." The heart is the center of our being. This is were purpose is rooted from. The words and word order was careful selected. The rhyming is so effective for this poem. -
Excellent
Could not have been spoken in better words. In a time where so many mouths have been tounge tied. It is nice to read someone testimony of faith and of his soul salvation. Awsome read. -
Highly warms my spirit
I was made aware of this poem/hymn recently from a recent song that was directly inspired by this poem/hymn. Overall, in every word, this poem warms me. The author, obviously had a very close relationship with Jesus, that she eludes to throughout the poem. Her flowing words and rhyme draws me into an assurance of my own faith in Jesus Christ and helps me keep my focus on what is most important. I am blessed every time I recite or sing along to this poem/hymn/currently played song. Peace from the Lord Jesus. -
Brilliant
Well, "I am not skilled to understand
What God hath willed, what God hath planned" the poet , in a very nice manner involved God, if any to be his savoir. A very deep and brilliant expression
