A door just opened on a street

A door just opened on a street —
I, lost, was passing by —
An instant's width of warmth disclosed
  And wealth, and company.

The door as sudden shut, and I,
I, lost, was passing by, —
Lost doubly, but by contrast most,
  Enlightening misery.

poem speaks about a lost person treading the realms of another lost world, seemingly friendly.
and when the door had been shut later ... it seemed that the person's confusions was increased...
with later realization ... that it had been a lost world... the misery seems enlightening...
    vivid words and deep reflections...

Dickinson is very economical with the words yet come up with strong points.

a very tightly controlled, brief poem using commas for pacing. like an instant photograph of a street scene.
