Look To This Day

Look to this day:
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendour of achievement
Are but experiences of time.

For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!

    Look To This Day... in other books it's title is Salutation To The Dawn..
    When I read the name of Kalidasa.. i immediately looked for this one.. i made a classroom demo teaching before during my intership.
    this poem was my subject matter..

    bliss

    I hadn't heard this poem for quite sometime. Just a few minutes ago, it was used at the end of the documentary "Jesus In India". Now, reading it again, I feel like everything in my life is coming around in some indecipherable order and "deja vu" experiences like this one are the only evidence.

    i would like to know where this poem is from- is it a stand alone composition? or is it part of one of Kalidasa's major works? would appreciate any input on this. thanks!

    Beautiful

    This is inspiring. Every day that goes by, is gone forever. All we truly have to ourselves is this measure of time and we have to cram into it everything and we have to savor everything too at the same time. How much will be just activity, like fillers and how much will be worthwhile is up to us.

    excellent!

    I love this poem of Kalidas; it succinctly states the importance of being in the present, fully, and how magnificent the effect of that would be. I felt uplifted.

    How well this poem would be to be used as a daily mantra. So full of positive thoughts to begin each new day.

    I find this poem to be very refreshing and encouraging to say the least. If we could all think in this manner our lives would truly be blessed and easier to deal with the everyday journeys in our lives. I like this one very much and it was very easy to understand and marvel at. Awesome!
