My life closed twice before its close;

My life closed twice before its close;
  It yet remains to see
If Immortality unveil
  A third event to me,

So huge, so hopeless to conceive,
  As these that twice befell.
Parting is all we know of heaven,
  And all we need of hell.

    Seems like the poet is talking about her suicide attempt.
    First stanz- Her life was almost close to death twice. Yet she is alive to see a third event that will help her die.
    Second stanza- Seems like she had well planned her two attempts to die, which failed. Parting with the suicide is all she knew of heaven, but all she needs is hell (suicide).

    Wonderful poem. How very true those last two lines are!

    This is kind of a depressing poem. Because of the talk abour death. And hell.
