Truth

"Truth," said a traveller,
"Is a rock, a mighty fortress;
Often have I been to it,
Even to its highest tower,
From whence the world looks black."

"Truth," said a traveller,
"Is a breath, a wind,
A shadow, a phantom;
Long have I pursued it,
But never have I touched
The hem of its garment."
And I believed the second traveller;
For truth was to me
A breath, a wind,
A shadow, a phantom,
And never had I touched
The hem of its garment.

    This is a lovely piece....so true..and I haven't touched the hem either..Not yet.Keep looking for things that aren't there...And mistakenly stumble upon good...I think that's how it's supposed to be..Beautiful write

    The idea that truth is untouchable and that we see everything through the filter of our interpretation - does truth exist at all anyway, or is it merely a creation of mankind's mind; nature reacts simply to what is there, and has no need for 'truth'. Only those who seek to oppose themselves to those the call liars need this concept. What can be called 'truth' or 'fact' ... we don't know, because to be able to get to the bottom of it we would have to know everything and know that the 'everything' we knew was exhaustive. We all see what is there, but we all see through narrow windows.

    At least the knowledge that truth is not solid is not only a problem for our time in this world, but for thing that has ever lived.

    it is sad is it not that the one thing we seek can be so hard to find
    have always myself believed that truth is so difficult to find for it is always changing
    just as our enviroments change

    my truth for today
    would be my lies of tomorrow

    thankyou for your thoughts which make me think
    so long after your thoughts
    has passed away
