i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
                                  i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

The first time I really heard this poem was in the movie "in her shoes" where Cameron Diaz recites it. It made me cry because of the beauty in the words. I just lost my mother on July 20, i realize that the poem is in regards to someone you are in love with, but I miss my mother and feel that I will always carry her with me and of course, I will carry her in my heart where she will remain forever.

that's my favorite thing I've ever read by him. a bit ideal perhaps, but what's wrong with that I guess... It' absolutely breathtaking. it makes me feel. I think it could make almost anyone feel, if they really looked.

In the English language there is the Gettysburg Address, the Declaration of Independence, Ecclesiastes (King James Version) and this gift from ee cummings. I used it at my wife's recent memorial service because it perfectly expressed our relationship and my feelings. Her heart travels with mine. And mine with her.

Reveals the essence of spiritual love

The beloved and the lover in this passionate poem seem inseperable,as if melded into a unitive existence. It's exalted metaphors and imagery reveal the essence of spiritual love,a reflection of nature's beauty, exploring the depths of the human heart.

I saw it 'IN HER SHOE' as well and several times till one day I actually watched the ending and the poem almost made me cry! It reminded me so much. Just so much of a friend whom I considered much like a brother, a mentor, a love and my muse. A great love that only few had the chance to experience and even less, to keep. I'm on of them and I thank God. I love you, Kei.

My 13yr old daughter and I watched 'In her Shoes' and she then wrote down the words and asked me what I thought of when reading them. My answer was my children and my love for them. She said she thought of her big sister (aged 24, with whom she shares an extremely close bond). Brought tears to my eyes and made me proud!

Sometimes a poem grabs your heart strings and twists them - and this poem haas done that to many people particularly since it was recited in a recent movie. The Movie (the name escapes me) has brought this poem to the eyes and hearts of so many people - which is a good thing.

It has had a definite impact upon me and I can relate so much through the poets words and only wish I had had it in my posession some years ago to share with someone very dear to me. The movie has certainly opened a window into cummings' work and it shows what a versatile and talented man he was. Beautiful, incredibly sensitive poem.

    Purity

    From guest Diane (contact)
I think this poem expresses the purity of the heart. The one great love each of us find in at least one other in our lifetime if we are lucky enough. I was cursed with a life I did not ask for but I was blessed with a strength that could move mountains. That strength came in the form of a twin brother. Our souls have endured too much, but our love for each other never faltered and kept us protected. That purity is all that "they" couldn't take or break. Never have I been able to clearly express what I feel when I think of him until the day fate brought these words before my eyes.

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart. A hollowed shade that reflected upon a wall. As tender feet tread across the ground, I awaken as the quickening light approaches then dissapear as the night winds. Time has no shame no pity only shadowy cast of people cascading through life landscape. I close my eyes some say my how you've aged, just yesterday youth now all hoplessly gray. Will anyone remember any of my day's we all disappear in life grand charade. I once had a dream that I thought was real but just like ice cubes melt another sun reappeared. Is this it? said the aged old man what did it cost me to walk in this distant land? Only time will tell as history reflect a lifetime of a man. But this time I have no story to tell No Conquering Army standing ready at my command, No Kingship, No Country to rule as my own, Nothing but nothing to claim as my own. Sometimes the second time around is not all what it is cooked up to be. (Langston Hughes words completed by me)

I, also, have first heard this poem in the movie "In Her Shoes". I looked it up online as soon as I finished watching it. The emotion behind it is truly sweet and pulls at the heartstrings of all who read it. It reminds everyone of someone who is essentially, a part of them. And if ever parted, would have stolen a part of your soul, as well. Thank you e.e. cummings for beautifully expressing these beautiful emotions that we are blessed to feel.

    Simply beautiful

It reaches deep to reveal our own sentiments of those that are with us, and those not with us, and all that we do, it surpasses as words we would express to them, all we do, those that are in our heart truly brings it out from each of ourself, I really love the way this was written, truly a love that expresses as that of a love of our own.

I heard this poem in the movie "In her Shoes" and I have been so deeply moved. I quickly came to internet to look for it and fortunately I found it. I'm not an English native. I live in Argentina so I can't find the words to express how much I feel. I can only say thank you very, very much.

My daughter read this at her brother's wedding yesterday. The tears flowed as she read it, including the bride's. 'i carry your heart with me' truly expressed the love between my son and his new bride..
