Resumé

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren't lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

    From my knoweldge of Mis Parker she was being metephoracal, like the rest of the poem taking everything over lightly, acids take the skin off you so she underplays it by saying 'stain' she does it also with rivers are 'damp'. It's really just her kind of satire.

    Acids don't stain you, they burn you and take away your flesh. Unless that was meant metaphorically, and I doubt that, that seems to be an error in my view on her part.

    It has a nice rhythem to it, but, it seems a bit child-like. Tho, that may be the point, I don't know.

    It's a nice piece, average in my reading of it.

    What a poem. If only this could be handed out to all the suicidal people or self-injurers in the world, then maybe they could see these 'tools of death' from her point of view. It's almost like she is making fun of suicide, but you can tell that isn't the case. She's just turning something very serious into something a little lighter, trying to brighter the moment as it were, and I feel that she does an amazing job.
