I am tired.
I am tired of speech and of action.
If you should meet me upon the
street do not question me for
I can tell you only my name
and the name of the town I was
born in–but that is enough.
It does not matter whether tomorrow
arrives anymore. If there is
only this night and after it is
morning it will not matter now.
I am tired. I am tired of speech
and of action. In the heart of me
you will find a tiny handful of
dust. Take it and blow it out
upon the wind. Let the wind have
it and it will find its way home.

I like how this is written.
I think that it is human to feel such weariness at some point during one's life. -
Williams,as a gifted prose writer, writes this poem in prose. The prose deliberately accents the flat and unpoetic concern he has here for life.
His early collection of short stories is also a non-flattering depiction of life's hard struggle.
Therein lies the beauty, the polish from the dust. -
Realist ___
I'm so tired of all this motivational 'power of positive thinking, genre' poetry of today. Whereas 'Williams speaks of the reality of life. Not everyone is filled with the joy of living. For many ( if not most ) find life tedious. -
Maybe this is how he felt at the time, ready to leave behind all the worries and strife of his world. He has given his all to the life he led and is now ready to leave. All that is left is;" In the heart of me you will find a tiny handful of dust" blow it away and God will take it home.
