Alice is marrying one of the guard.

They've great big parties inside the grounds.
"I wouldn't be King for a hundred pounds,"

A face looked out, but it wasn't the King's.
"He's much too busy a-signing things,"
Says Alice.

"Do you think the King knows all about me?"
"Sure to, dear, but it's time for tea,"
Says Alice.

I have been trying to find out who sang/recited this poem as a regular presentation on "Captain Kangaroo" circa 1963. Can ayone help? -
I can only 'hear' this as a song. Can't remember by whom but the tune is loud and clear. Rather too much repetition for me though.

This is an alltime classic poem. I've always loved it and I'll definately make sure I'll tell it to my children.
