So they bought you
And kept you in a
Very good home
Central heating
TV
A deep freeze
A very good home-
No one to take you
For that lovely long run-
But otherwise
'A very good home'
They fed you Pal and Chum
But not that lovely long run,
Until, mad with energy and boredom
You escaped- and ran and ran and ran
Under a car.
Today they will cry for you-
Tomorrow they will buy another dog.

Never read him, doggone it!
He was a great poet, though I never read his things,
But those who did, swore he was;
I'm glad to have friends who knew
Or I would have missed out on a lot. -

Yes, this should be in the 'sad' category. (And there could also be a category made for 'dogs' or 'pets' or 'animals'). -

This is so very sad. Spike, I feel would have understood this feeling. He tells the sad story of the dog but, unfortunately the people are sad too for placing this living creature in the same category as their deep-freeze.

A sad poem from the pen of a sad clown.

I like the flow, it was relaxed. I found this to be a nice piece.
