From guest Ryan (contact)
a master of simplicity; conveying beauty through darkness, yet not condoning any dislike toward light though people prefer a "dawn" over the "dark" any day to witness peace and tranquility. -
what is this a sateement of? Sounds like a sleepless night to me, I hate it when the birds are up early, though the sound of rain is usually quite pleasant.
I like haiku when they're chock-full of meaning, but this one just doesn't do it for me... -
Beautifully written. Everytime I read Kerouac's work I feel better for it.

Simply blissfull...I talk too much

Haiku's do not have to be of a syllable count. And most American Haiku's are not syllable counted at all. This is an American Haiku.

This is a really fine haiku. Very simple and evocative.
Of course, any time spent reading Kerouac is time well spent. His work has inspired multiple generations to write, to travel, to just purely enjoy jazz. So many of us list this man as a major influence. He deserves to be recognized and remembered always. I know I certainly am richer for his work.

i want to wake up to that wet dawn with the birds singing as i am blindly stumbling about. to be wet from mornings dew and cold from the moonlight, slowly warming in the dawn sun..
to be that free. this is a beautiful haiku---we need more Jack here!! -
Reminds me of the other day when i was up early and was walking outside. It rained a little and there was a gorgeous rainbow in the sky.

The last I heard Jack Kerouac was dead.. So you really haven't met him Honesty lol
Though I wonder is your comment meant as a wee sarcastic bit of fun: 'Dear Jack' has a touch of irony to it..?
This is a pithy piece of poetry, comfortable and wet.

Dear Jack~
Ohh, I just love when it rains, especially right before. And I associate birds to many things, though with rain it is always on wet cement or in a birdbath,lol...wonder if that symbolizes anything
Congratulations on being on the POW list!!!It's great meeting you! I look forward to reading more of your work.
Always,

It conjured up the feeling of lying in a warm bed on a rainy morning and listening to the birds outside. In Queensland, Storm birds would be heard with their mournful cry.
A visual, feel-good haiku

The image of a rainy dawn is really pretty. And it is nice waking up to the sound of birds.
