Whenas in silks my Julia goes,
Then, then, methinks, how sweetly flows
That liquefaction of her clothes!
Next, when I cast mine eyes and see
That brave vibration each way free,
Oh how that glittering taketh me!

Ever thought the other way?
From guest Ashley (contact)
We first decipher that Julia is wearing silk, symbolic for a sexual framework for love, yet if one thoroughly paraphrases each stanza Julia is actually dangerous. Who is Julia? This symbolic female figure for love. She is leaving him, yet looking beautiful. His love is too much for him to bare....noting THERE, THERE! Like one knows there is always one that loves the other more. Love is dangerous..... But when i first read it i liked the sexual and emotional ties he has for her.... Who wouldn't?

Those who write their comments in verse display a little too much grandiosity for my liking. As to the poem, I actually find it quite obviously about sex (the desire of) and seduction (the seductiveness of Julia). Old poetry > contemporary poetry. -
Sensual, but a little too subtle for me...
-
yeah its about sex i'd say...lol i really like robert herrick...always good stuck

Hmmm.. I need to check out this guy a little more.... this is a very subtly seductive poem...and yes, it's about sex...for me that's kind of obvious...or is my mind too busy in it's own little world ...

Nice Style of writing..
But
Even I am, not in a position
to make a conclusion of the theme.

LOL can you not see he is undressing her with his eyes! So many do this when they gaze upon a woman so fair and with thier thoughts the clothing is no longer there and still with every word he never says it straight but if he could he would with her mate! So yes it is about sex! This is a great piece!

Nice write. Lots of big words and confusing lines. Sorry, but I'm not grasping the meaning of your words. Are you talking about sex? -
