Bend low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
So near, a long-arm man can pick off stars,
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.

I too got the 'wishful feelings' from this poem. Wonderfully done! Oh the days when you could actually look up and see the stars clearly. Unlike today

'sky bowl' that is what it looks like if looked from all around. An upside down star. I find wonderwoman74's comment a bit not about this piece. Just her saying what a 'star' is and that's it. I don't feel that's really what the piece is about. About the elements of a star. I feel it's about life and dreams and hope. And how if you pick one it will come true if you pick another and put it in your pocket you can save it for another day etc.
Not just about the elements of a star in the reality view she's put it in.
Anyways ..
A good piece written by Sandburg.
