The answer is 3 for the villanelle class. I see that it does do more than "adjust" the villanelle form.

  • on Adonis by Hilda Doolittle (HD), on March 6, 2004
Very lovely. The use of the word "gold" in this poem is haunting. I enjoyed this one very much. I believe Adonis was Venus' lover or some such thing in Mythology. Interesting that, while talking to a god, the speaker says, "each of us...is fit to be worshipped." I wonder what that implies.

  • The "poetic diction" is pretty here, even though some call it stuffy. "Driving sweet buds like flocks to feed in air..." That line reminds me of "Rough winds to shake the darling buds of May" from Shakespeare.

  • on Paradiso (Italian) by Dante Alighieri, on March 6, 2004
Italian is a lovely language, more fluid than pompous old Latin. This definately makes me want to learn more Italian.
