Hey i do agree with the JO that the poet has used metaphor. Fire symbolisez desire and ice symbolisez hate.Firstly, the poet has favoured those people who say that world would end in fire..but in the end he says that both desire and hate are sufficient to destroy the whole world.....

amazing poem
This poem starts with solitariness,bewilderment and despair but the best part is that it ends in hope and faith. Faith in Almighty God... sometimes we feel that we are all alone on this land where all the manifestations of nature are totally and brutally hostile towards human being but there is still one thing which makes us strong and gives us hope that He(God)is always with us and is always supporting us no matter what happens but God is never going to leave us alone. My fav lines
