  • on Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost, on August 18, 2005
Makes you wonder why we don't hold on to the moments in our lives that are golden... why we let them subside... We have to appreciate the moments we have before they fade away... because, like Frost says, 'Nothing gold can stay"... This is one of my favorite of Frost's poems... and I thoroughly enjoyed its use in The Outsiders... the meaning of Frost's words were captured so vividly through its use.

  • I want to say more about this piece, because I feel my last comment did it no justice. I use this poem as my killer in speech (yeah, me a killer in speech-ha, but it has given me my 1's). I love the emotion that the words bring, and the different ways I can minipulate the flow and rythem. The words and descriptions are set-up in a way that leaves much room for interpertation on how to read it; I love that. And I feel kind of glum when I read this, for love can cause that feeling very easily:

    "In secret we met-
    In silence I grieve"

Those are some powerful words- it's heartbreaking kind of... I love this poem with a passion, and like I said before, 'suggest it to everyone!!!'

  • on Fire And Ice by Robert Frost, on May 22, 2004
I love this poem. It's short, but every line is beautiful and dense in emotion. There is so much meaning to this poem...and many different ways to look at it. I like Alliecat's point, because that's what I got out of it the first time I read it; Fire is the passion of man, while ice is the hatred, and either way the passion or hatred will kill us all.

  • This might be my favorite poem to read, especially out-loud. The words of Lord Byron are so well put that the emotion is easy to find and express. This is poetry at it's finest; suggest it to all!
