on The Ordinary Man by Robert W Service, on August 1
Not Ordinary Man (Robert Service)
Your legacy of words construe
A mind in keen array,
An asset shared alone by few,
For me - they point the way!
I take those tales, you wrote with flair
Revise to now - from then,
A student of a debonair -
Not ordinary man!
Some turn away, with mere disgust
When verse is rhymed with sound;
They feel the sense is lost to lust
And miss the flow profound.
I run from this repulsive force
Of short attention span,
Your works, for me, the best of course -
Not ordinary man!
If you and I, by chance, could meet,
I’d hope you stay and share;
Ensure this lass, you’re truly sweet
And wise beyond compare;
You’d see beyond this mortal place
Where life for you began,
Then span that gap with Godly grace -
Not ordinary man!

Davies shares ...
some grand thoughts in this poem which seem to mirror my own thoughts ... although mine are a wee bit more updated! Off-the-beaten path you'll find me and always ready for adventure! joy

on Interim by Edna St. Vincent Millay, on July 17
A great poem!
As a widow I found that this poem tugged at my heartstrings and had me feeling much of what she shared in this poem. It has described thoughts that anyone who has been in a position such as this will come to appreciate for her honesty. The last verse is so spot-on and made me just want to close my eyes and sleep as well ... The death of a loved one has so many ways of never letting us forget!

A poem well worth the reading ...
and a good take on role reversing! I give Gilbert the credit he deserves for allowing himself the freedom to step into this scene with zest. His humor was quite wry and a wee bit twisted but certainly makes for some great poetry.
